Do you mean depression in the clinical sense? Depression is an imbalance or disturbance in the brain which results in the loss of interest in pleasurable activities. It is also manifested by a loss of interest in and ability to perform activities of daily living. Basically, when you are Depressed you don't want to do anything - don't want to get out of bed, don't want to shower, brush your teeth, do anything fun, etc.

If you mean depression in the colloquial sense as in, you just feel sad or upset - that is something different.

Anyway, I don't feel any depression symptoms with using creatine.

However, I would not rule out the possiblity that creatine may cause depression in some individuals, and if it does cause depression in you, then stop using creatine.

I bought my first box of creatine today... Doubtful but curious too..

What to expect besides a new prescription of Prozac ... The dealer told me to expect quite a lot water retention in my body. Maybe around 2kgs.

For the past month I was saving up for something. Something special which I bought at GNC. I was surprised they didn't ask for ID; I was pretty sure the cashier noticed how nervous I was. Anyways, my mom asked my how my day was when I got home, but I ignored her. I have more important things to do. I run to the bathroom and unpack my bag. In my school bag is a white plastic bag from GNC. I open the bag, first removing the receipt and flushing it down the toilet to get rid of the evidence. My heart was racing now. I unpack the creatine monster from the bag.

I wonder what people will be asking me when they see that I will be 50lbs heavier. Should I say I was just eating a lot? I remove the label from the tub and tear it into a thousand small pieces. I flush that down the toilet, too. It is time now. I run up to my room when my mom ask me what I am holding. I panic, sweat drips down my forehead and my teeth chatter. "Mom, it's just for a school project". "What project?" "I don't know mom I just started it!". A tear runs down my cheek. I run upstairs and open the creatine, scooping upservings into a clear water bottle. What have I gotten myself into? I fill it with water and drink it. There is no turning back now. The creatine monster is inside me now, it will control me. What should I do if I die? I cant let my family know about this.

I open the creatine tub and throw it all out the window; a white cloud of mysterious dust sparkles into the wind so graciously. I feel the substance taking control of me; I am now the monster. I walk downstairs, its time to work out; time to get big. Now I worry, I don't want to get too big; people will think I use steroids. I do use steroids. No I don't. Creatine. All I see is the weights now, I am almost downstairs when I hear "Do you want a cookie I just baked". I know I do not have time for this **** now. "No mom I do not want a cookie" I walk in the basement and drop to my knees before the weights, tears running down my cheeks. I turn to the right and look at myself in the mirror. Oh god, what have I done?
Hahahahahaha nice one!

Sounds like a lot, but perhaps. The water you retain is intracellular, so worst case is your muscles will look fuller.

It takes about a month for your muscles to fill up with creatine. So don't write it off until you've given it a fair chance. Also, despite what the supplement companies tell you, monohydrate is the only proven creatine. The other purportedly better (read more expensive) are not as good. They deteriorate in the body too quickly to be of much use.

Thank you very much. Very useful info for me. Being impatient I could easily stopped eating it after 2 weeks. I had no idea it takes 1 month.
Seems as by chance "monohydrate" is what I got. At least its what the box has spelled on it. I didnt buy all the mumbo jumbo thesis the salesmen told me in order to sell some twice as expensive box

Excellent shrewdness. Creatine monohydrate is a decent bit of kit as far as supplements go, if it works for you. And it's mainly the supplement companies that make up negative stories about it, because creatine monohydrate is relatively cheap and everyone knows that. So to get people to buy the less effective - or non effective - newer shinier forms of creatine (which as luck would have it cost you more), they have to tell people monohydrate may cause cramps, and bogus stuff like that. There's a raft of scientific studies done on monohydrate and no side effects have been observed, whereas performance benefits have. Whereas there's little in the way of science done on the new forms of creatine, and no benefits have been observed.
