Default 2012 European Championships

Final entries are out!
http://www.antalya2012ewc.com/

Some observations:
Halil Mutlu will be lifting!
Hennequin is in the 94 class.
Marcin Dolega will be head to head against the Russians (Bedhzanyan and Sheiko) and Tesovic.
Ramunas Vysniauskas will be lifting!
Chigishev vs Screbatihs vs Steiner in the super.
The Greeks and Bulgarians will (maybe?) be lifting.

Lets hope Chigishev can total, I'd love to see him at London. Good to see Scerbathis as well, he could make it 5 Olympics if he gets to London.

yeah I had heard rumors that mutlu was going to be at 2012 olympics. He was looking good for a medal in 2008 Beijing but apparently the Turkls didn't want him going past Naim's record.
Hannequin probably already qualified in the 85s so doesn't have to diet down and interrupt his training.
Not sure how strong Greece and Bulgaria will be, but if any of the old chmapions and medalists are there, I will be happy.
Hopefully Chigishev will be ok
scerbatihs, this would be his 4th Olympics.. Actually maybe 5th!
Ah just read Stru's post, so yeah 5th!

I find that very hard to believe. He did 120/149 at the 2008 Euros, which was his last big comp, and he lifted very poorly, only making 2/6 lifts.

I just think he was too old, and very rusty after coming off a drugs ban. 269 is more than just a bad day for someone whose best total at 56 is 305. In fact, you'd have to go back to the 1992 Junior Europeans when he lifted as a 52 to find a worse total. I think everyone was excited by the prospect of Mutlu coming back, but then ended up disappointed when he nearly bombed in the snatch and only made his opening C&J. Still, it would be pretty awesome to see someone who's pretty much 39 years old medal,at a major international comp.

I skimmed through the entry list again and noticed that there are three Russian entries in the +105 class (Albegov, Chigishev, Kozlov). I was under the impression each nationality could put a maximum of two lifters in each weight class? I surely hope that the Chigishev entry is not a typo!

Bad news. Mutlu, Marcin Dolega, Screbatihs and Chigishev will not be lifting at the Europeans.

Even worse news, it's on Eurosport when I'm at work and isn't repeated later in the evening!

My Cypriot compatriot just got himself a bronze in the snatch, men's 62kg, Dimitris Minasides!
