Please if you know anything about the olympic lifts, look at my recent videos and critique one or two things thank you... I plan on updating videos every week.
Currently, I lift for USA Powerlifting, and all my lifts are done raw, I compete in the 123.45 lb weight class I'm 19 years old and my best lifts in a meet, granted I have only done two competitions so far.... are 347 Squat, 260 Bench, and 396 Deadlift. I am currently trying to learn the olympic lifts, I started training for the Power clean on 3/30/11. The Clean and Jerk on 4/26/11 and Snatch on 5/2.. my best Clean and Jerk is 195 2x and I have not tried over 135 on snatch. My clean and jerk of 195 feels very easy, although I have tried going for 205, multiple times, although coming close I have never gotten it. And I can power clean it, but I cannot power clean 215 so its not an easy clean. I feel as if my technique really hurts anything over 195. I'll hopefully be able to post videos soon of me lifting so people can critique. but for Now i'll post what I do for olympic lifts and see if anyone has any ideas.. I'm also doing powerlifting work outs as well. Says my excel sheet is too large, so I guess this will have to do. I came back to make a video and did 135 1x 145 1x and 135 1x I'll post the videos.... I do the powerlifting work outs before the olympic, because I have a competition in July..... after then I have quite a bit of a break to really focus on olympic lifts.

Weighed in at 127 today
Bench 135 5x, 185 1x, 235 2x5 all paused. Clean and Jerk 115 2x 155 2x 165 2x 185 2x 195 2x 200 1x 205 clean missed jerk Came back strong 205 2x =) Pr WOOOOOO! |

Just wanted to comment on the technique... you are obviously very strong but need to your snatch grip out... and widen your split on the jerk. As to the pull, you are just kind of horsing the bar up and not really using a proper pull. Learn a proper pull and you will be lifting a LOT more weight. I would suggest you look at the snatch and clean videos on this site in the video section, and start with the progression shown. You could stand to do a lot of cleans and snatches from the high hang and knees. |

320 squat 10 sets of 3, was not pretty but i got them all.... tried doing clean afterwards, for technique with the videos on this site, and my back is just hurting, so I am gonna ice heat and stretch it and do it later today with just a long stick.

If you continue to do 3 x 10 sets, do it on a different day, or do the lift you want to work on first. I've done these and they will take it all out of you when you go heavy enough!!!

thanks, but i still compete in powerlifting... I just worked with the bar for technique on clean and snatch. my heavy day are the days i bench, or when squat is easier =) I will definately take this advice after my powerlifting competition I'll have alot of down time before my next one.

That's fine, just do the technique work first!! That way it will not interfere with squatting or whatever work you're doing!!
