Default Decent Bars in the UK

I'm looking to get my hands on a decent bar in the UK. It seems bars over here are more expensive than in the US, and hard to come by. I've been looking at this one from strength shop, which seems to get pretty decent reviews and only comes in at £190.

Thanks for any help.

Seems I need an email address to get a decent bar at a decent price, and the strength shop bar is not all it's cracked up to be, which is a bit disappointing. Rouge fitness looks like it might be my best bet!

Thanks.

That's just my brain fog haha!

Yeah I'm a bit disappointed too, there's a pendlay bar for sale here http://www.strengthpowerspeed.co.uk/...ts/b/534601031

£370 for bushing, £475 for needle bearing. Life time guarantee. It is a lot more than the SS one. I guess the SS one is good for short term but if you're planning to lift for a while it might be worth getting a Pendlay, Eleiko or Werksan since they all have lifetime (10 year) guarantees. The york and jordan ones are significantly cheaper but I haven't read many reviews apart from the sharp knurling with the yorks and a mate said "I used it once and is was a POS".

Also, avoid savagestrength like the plague. I contacted the major companies in the UK and you will not believe how much Savage are bumping up the prices just to be a middle man.

Good luck!

Thanks for your help, again! After looking about a bit I'm leaning towards the nexgen bar with bushing. Though whatever I spend on my bar I will have to give to my wife to spend on clothes, so it'll end up costing me double.

For me I think the limiting factor in how much I spend, is more how much more difference it will make to my training. The nexgen bar with bushing looks like it should be pretty much spot on for me.

Few things:

The warranty from their MD website says you'll only get it if you order through MD, so maybe contact both websites about that. http://www.muscledriverusa.com/NexGe...nty_c_484.html

Also from what I see there's no middle knurling, it's just smooth like a woman's barbell so that might be a bit annoying for squats.

Good luck again dude, tell me how you get on. I'm still saving for a decent set!

I will do. It'll probably be the end of August when I order it, or around then anyway. I have an Olympic bar at the moment, just a cheap one, which is 35mm and chrome plated with a centre knurl, and will probably do fine for squats. Looking forward to seeing what a thinner bar with some whip will do...

...hopefully I'm not so crap I won't notice
