There is a feature length film being made right now about weightlifting, it is called "The artist and the Olympian". I have worked pretty closely with the producer and the guy who wrote the script. The "short" is being shot in Philadelphia late this summer, starring none other than Donny Shankle. There is some hope to get him cast as the main character when the actual film is produced. Here is a link to the kickstarter page where they are raising money for the short.

Nick Nolte from Blue chips? LMAO. 48 hrs brother. And Kim Basinger from 8 mile. try 9 1/2 weeks. You won't forget her after that movie.
Haha, it's funny, I was thinking "how old are you" just because he felt the need to associate both Nick Nolte and Kim Basinger with specific movies....I mean, they've been in more stuff than I could count!

Glenn, I'm going to try and promote that kickstarter as much as possible through our gym's facebook, etc. A movie with some focus on O-lifting that features Donny is all good in my book.

the movie is actually loosely based on Donny's life. It is actually a really, really, really good script. Think "the wrestler" and "drive" kind of, but based on weightlifting.

Sounds awesome Glenn, I think Donny's inspirational and I can't wait to see more about him. I've just backed it - nobody tell my fiancé, we're saving for a wedding and just this month I've bought the new Adipower shoes, 200kg of wood for some jerk boxes and renewed my BWLA membership, and this 50 bucks might just tip the balance!

For the record on Zoe Smith's bench picture - she'd have no problem snatching the 90kg but her bench max is 65kg, about the same as her strict press.

I want to see people lifting just the bar in the snow like in Best of the Best. They actually have this scene in a Korean weightlifting movie LOL.
